Club badge: Embroidered. Nike: Embroidered. All other sponsors: Printed After four years of following a red/white colourway, City fans were delighted to welcome navy back into the clubs kits. The smart home kit, one of the best of the modern era, saw City wear halved shirts for the very first time. It was to be worn with navy shorts and socks and was used again in 2009/10. This kit was worn with white away shorts during the home game against Histon in one of the very few times that home colours were changed to avoid a kit clash.

Club badge: Embroidered. Nike: Embroidered. All other sponsors: Printed The adventurous new away kit was all white with black shoulders, grey/white gradients and an intricate swirling pattern effect. The most interesting feature of this design though is its strange collar, which does not reach all the way around the front of the neck. The provenance of this kit is something of a mystery; it does not seem to be a template shirt and the chances of it being a bespoke design for the club are extremely low, given the era. Could it have been chosen from some sort of training or leisure range instead?

Alternate kit

Club badge: Embroidered. Nike: Embroidered. All other sponsors: Printed The excellent light blue and maroon third kit was carried over from the 2007/08 season. This season the jersey had to be combined with the primary and change shorts and, in the away fixture at Barrow, the home side's change socks had to be used to avoid a kit clash. No numbers were worn on the front of these shirts this season. Although the Apotex logo on the rear of the jersey has been updated, the logo on the rear of the shorts remains the same as last season.

Club badge: Embroidered. Nike: Embroidered. All other sponsors: Printed A special kit was commissioned for the FA Trophy final. Its purple colour was inspired by the ecclesiastical purple worn by the Archbishops of York. Commemorative embroidery surrounds the club badge on both the shirt and shorts. Squad numbers feature on the chest and the shorts and Pryers, next season's main sponsor, sponsor the rear of the jersey and the shorts. Fans responded well to the release of a fourth shirt. According to the club, "The first day of the sale of the shirt...yielded no fewer than 160 purchases to reap in more than £5,000 worth of revenue." After the final, the match-worn shirts were autographed and auctioned on behalf of the Archbishop’s Youth Trust.
