Although there is no photographic evidence available from this season, the evidence that City's strip remained unchanged is compelling. City had been playing in maroon/white stripes in the preceding (1926/27) season and would continue to do so the following (1928/29) season. The programme for the home game against Ilkeston United (Batters, 2008) continues to identify York's colours as "maroon and white, white knickers".
