This photograph of the 1926 City team shows the players wearing new jerseys with a white central stripe (previously the central stripe had been maroon). It is likely that this strip was the one donated in December 1925 and worn for the rest of that season but this remains unknown thus far. A new collar can also be discerned, possibly reinforced to avoid ripping. Variation in the design of the socks is also evident, but the colouration of Len Duckham's (front row, left) socks shows that their base colour was black.

The team pictured below can be dated quite precisely. This XI played together only twice and in consecutive games:

The team photo shows four clear variations in the design of York City's stockings during 1926/27. The front cover of the Supporters' Club Handbook (March, 1927) identifies the white hoop design worn by Jimmy Loughran as part of the home kit, although it is possible that players wore different socks from match to match.
