City's first season of non-league football saw York abandon navy blue in favour of red shirts with white shorts - a home colour combination worn for 31 years from 1936-67, albeit with black socks rather than the red worn this season. The shirts themselves had white sleeves (with red undersides), last seen on a home shirt in 1987, and prompted City director Terry Doyle's infamous proclamation that City would be the "Arsenal of the Conference". The sky blue and navy away kit combination from the 2003/04 season was carried over into this season for a second year of service.

Sponsorship

  • Phoenix Software sponsored the kits for the second year.
  • Nike were kit manufacturers for the second season.
  • Casino Times became the club's first rear of shirt sponsors.
